Interviewing is one of my favorite things to do. I have never been bored by a subject. Interviews usually leave me with a little buzz. I’ve done a lot of them here, and I’m sharing a few from the archives that I think are extra special, or that you may have missed, or that could use a reboot. I hope they leave you a little inspired, too.
I played with podcasting for a minute. I really enjoyed this format but decided to stick to words on the page. Dara Horn’s book is by now pretty well known, and you may have had the opportunity to hear her speak at Town Hall Seattle this past fall. Her words are worth reading and hearing over and over.
Here’s another podcast, this time with Rabbi Olivier BenHaim of Bet Alef Meditative Synagogue here in Seattle. I always value Rabbi BenHaim’s perspective. If you’re interested in his classes after listening to this, visit Bet Alef’s website.
Jonathan Choe is a local independent journalist who is loved by some, loved not so much by others. Along the lines of Dara, his observations — especially as someone outside of the Jewish community — are worth internalizing.
And now for something positive! Why don’t groups like this one, which came to Seattle last year, get more mainstream press attention? They are truly beacons of hope and light in these dark days.
To end on a hopeful note, a reminder of why America still holds promise for Jews and why we shouldn’t give it up or throw it away.
