Thank you Emily for your willingness to call out radical Islam and the various manifestations that have come to campus. The Arab hatred of Jews in the land of Israel has been brewing for over a century. They have been raised through their teaching to look down at Jews and treat them as inferior. The fact that students on campus have fallen for this calumny shows how pervasive it has been in academe since Edward Said and his book Orientalism if not before. This is not about land or peace, it is about as you say pushing Jews back in their place in history. Try as they might this will not happen. The slogans Globalize the Intifada and Intifada Revolution speak to a hate that is beyond only Jews.
Tomorrow is the deadline for Democratic LD organizations to submit 2 resolutions each to the state convention. The state party platform draft doesn't contain any anti-Israel material. People are introducing resolutions for adoption by the LDs. I will be in the LD meeting as a delegate today. I introduced more than 10 amendments to their resolution. My amendments support the two-state solution and Arabs and Jews living together in peace. If they vote against my amendments, that's what they are voting against. One of the Jewish delegates that I know of is of the JVP variety. This is not the Biden platform or the official draft platform. I introduced a resolution on a health care issue. No one introduced any amendments to it.
Are people here aware that two nights ago a girl at UCLA was trampled on by the anti-Israel gang (I don't call this protesting) and suffered a concussion. The video showed her head bleeding. She was taken to the hospital and didn't recognize her parents. The chancellor of UCLA sent an e-mail to the faculty after this happened.
People who never grew up around Jews don't know our culture and our history. It is particularly problematic when Hispanic and Native American members of the Democratic Party buy into the tropes superimposing the Native American settler-colonialist paradigm onto the Middle East. The leaders get plenty of encouragement when a Native American leader here in the Seattle area was invited to and is participating on an international UN commission on indigenous peoples. People are getting resume-building opportunities and jobs out of this. People are making hundreds of thousands of dollars as DEI meeting moderators with government and university agencies. People who get into the in-crowd are moved up the ladder, as in ethnic studies.
The WADems chair posted something on her page that was present this morning and has since disappeared. It was a letter endorsing the "peaceful" protestors at UW. It's not possible to post a link because it's not there anymore.
Well done. Read it 3 times. Worthy of a reprint to a broader audience. Atlantic or NY Times mag.

The West is next up...ignore at your peril
Emily, this is some of your best writing.

I wish I could upload a photo comment here so that I could show you what someone posted earlier today. It seems to have been removed.
It's probably a functionality issue, but you can post links. Thank you for sharing your insights here.
