A couple points of clarification:

1. I don’t know which scholars or leaders wrote this and I’m not sure it matters. I didn’t mean to come off so glib about that.

2. The resolution does NOT go to the governor to sign - this is my misunderstanding. The resolution is a done deal and no further actions will take place as far as I know.

How totally obnoxious. Any ideas on how to condemn this more broadly? Not sure the Governor will do anything with it -- nor, hopefully, all the other recipients. And there are so many of them, it would take a long time to compile all their email addresses. But let's all write to the Governor. Here is the link: https://governor.wa.gov/contacting-governor/contacting-governors-office/send-gov-ferguson-e-message. Has anyone done a public disclosure request for all the documents, meeting minutes, participants, etc. relating to this resolution? If not, I will do one.

I wrote to the Governor anyway. Asked him to condemn the resolution, tell his agencies to ignore it, and take the HRC to task for it. Probably won't hear back but who knows. I'll let you know if I hear anything. What's icing on the cake is that the Human Rights Commission is underfunded, understaffed and doesn't do very much. Yet it found time to come up with this hooey.

Washington State is one of the most progressive in the country, (Not enough people live east of the Cascades) so it is not surprising that The WA Human Rights Commission feels this way. Not sure I will ever understand why progressives hate Jews and Israel, no matter how they explain it. The Harvard letter on Islamophobia on campus is not even an example of discomfort on campus. It is washed over pablum.

Jews are the only ones who can define if something is antisemitic…I suspect the ‘scholars’ have never experienced it, because they don’t believe it exists.

Until we stand up as proud Jews and really teach about our people and our history (not just Moses, Jesus and the Shoah), we have ourselves to blame.

Here’s an idea…let’s start by educating the Jewish Studies ‘scholars’ at UW

Thanks for writing about this, Emily! I so appreciate you doing this for the community.

By the way, any reason that this week’s issue missed my email inbox?

Thanks Bill! I don’t know why you didn’t get it. Could have gotten lost in the ether or spam?

I checked pretty carefully in spam and elsewhere. No email. Not a big deal, just FYI

I figured it out. I had accidentally turned off all emails from Substack. Whoops!

Who wrote this proclamation? It sure doesn't represent the Jews and people I know in Seattle and Washington who think VERY differently.
